Half Term 1

Theme: Who? What? Where? When? Why?

The first 3-4 weeks will consist of baseline assessments.

Teacher allocation and set classes will be sorted by the end of September

Where do people come from? Link to growth, measuring height and creation story

Physical Development

Gym – confidence using and experimenting with movement on the large apparatus.

Working on cursive letter formation: including forming recognisable letters, letters that sit on the line, hang below the line (descenders) and letters that stretch above the line (ascenders)

Hygiene – washing our hands / germs.

Suite – using a mouse to draw and use 2 publish / 2 paint, logging in.

Cooking: making a healthy sandwich and designing alien biscuits.

Monday 29th January – English Open morning 9-9.40am. Come and join us for some Flying with Phonics.

Thursday 8th February 100 Days of School Celebration. Dress up day for Reception – children to dress up as a 100 year old person.

Theme: How do things work?

Literacy

Our main story will be ‘Naughty Bus’.

We will be writing in the form of recipes, lists, letters, captions for pictures and story writing.

Maths

Addition: adding 2 groups, part whole method, bar model, number sentences, missing number sentences, problem solving.

Subtraction: taking away from groups, more/less, number sentences, problem solving. We will be working on learning how to record our maths work.

Names and properties of 3D shapes.
